On the afternoon of May 13, 2025, Dr. Martin Rama, Senior Adviser of the World Bank, and former Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean and South Asia, along with Dr. Yue Li, Senior Economist of the World Bank, visited the School of International Governance Innovation (SIGI) at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) to deliver a lecture and interact with faculty and students.

During the Lecture

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Zhao Longyue provided a brief introduction to SIGI, focusing on its academic research, talent cultivation, and international cooperation, which were highly praised by the experts. Then, the two experts, drawing on their work experience, provided a detailed introduction to the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and shared their experience of working in international organizations.

The experts expressed their gratitude to SIGI for its warm reception and highly recognized its educational philosophy and model. Dr. Martin Rama noted that SIGI students demonstrated a strong interest and solid professional foundation in the field of international economics and governance, and displayed a high level of engagement and in-depth thinking, all of which left a deep impression.

This lecture not only deepened faculty and students’ understanding of the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, but also provided a guidance for students aspiring to careers in international organizations and global governance. Both parties look forward to future in-depth cooperation in academic research and talent cultivation to jointly contribute to global governance.
