
During the Meeting
On November 21, 2025, a delegation from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in India, led by Vice President Sankar Viswanathan and R. Seenivasan, Director of the International Relations Office, visited the School of International Governance Innovation (SIGI). The two sides held in-depth discussions on a wide range of cooperation areas, including curriculum development, scientific research, and student exchange programs.

At the meeting, Dean Zhao Longyue highlighted SIGI’s approach to professional development, recent major research achievements and international collaboration network. Following that, a detailed address was delivered by Director R. Seenivasan on VIT’s disciplinary structure, academic strengths and previous collaboration with Chinese universities, while also sharing preliminary ideas for potential joint Master’s and Ph.D. programs. Vice President Sankar Viswanathan expressed strong appreciation for SIGI’s dedication to interdisciplinary integration across Humanities, Science and Engineering. disciplines, especially in relation to collaboration and research involving the Global South countries. He looks forward to expanding substantive collaboration on this basis and jointly advancing the establishment and development of an alliance for collaboration among higher education institutions in the Global South.

The meeting further solidified both sides’ commitment to collaboration in interdisciplinary research, faculty and student exchanges, and the sharing of academic resources. Moving forward, the two universities, based on their strengths, will explore to jointly design courses and research programs in international governance, sustainable development and related fields, and to establish flexible mechanisms for both short- and long-term faculty and student exchanges. Both sides agreed to establish regular communication channels and to take concrete steps toward collaboration and shared development among higher education institutions in the Global South.
