On November 20, 2025, Md. Sabur Khan, Founder and President of Daffodil International University (DIU) in Bangladesh, along with Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam, Senior Assistant Director of International Affairs of DIU, visited the School of International Governance Innovation (SIGI) at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and held an exchange and discussion.
Remarks by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan
The two sides introduced their respective institutions' development orientation, distinctive strengths, and key projects to each other. Professor Zhao Longyue, Dean of SIGI, outlined the establishment course and talent cultivation model of both SIGI and the Institute of Global South Studies, highlighting the forward-looking layout and practical exploration in fields including international governance, Global South economies, and trade development. President Khan detailed DIU's notable strengths in talent development, academic research, and policy advisory services. He also conducted in-depth discussions on governance issues such as trade governance and information technology governance, expressing the hope to deepen cooperation with the School in relevant professional areas and jointly expand academic exchange and practical cooperation platforms.
The two sides explored the potential for establishing an international cooperation mechanism, focusing on mutual visits by experts, student exchanges, joint training, and thematic research. They will actively promote the joint establishment of academic research bases, jointly build a "Global Campus", and continuously advance collaborative innovation in fields such as international governance and Global South cooperation, jointly cultivating outstanding young talents with multilateral governance capabilities and cross-cultural communication skills.
This exchange has further consolidated the foundation for cooperation between the two institutions and laid a solid groundwork for promoting more pragmatic, innovative, and high-quality cooperation between SIGI and DIU in the future.
